IEP/IFSP meeting

Observe and/or participate in an IFSP or IEP meeting (age matching the practicum level). This is referred to as Assessment Experience 2 for infant/toddler and preschool, and is included as part of the Primary Practicum PBA on p. 37.

  1. Document your experience completing the IFSP or IEP summary sheet. Do not include a copy of the actual IEP/IFSP.
  2. Complete a follow up interview with a family member about their experience. Document this by including the questions you asked and the answers they provided (if not possible to interview a family member, include just the list of questions you would have asked).
  3. Write a self-reflection about the process. What would you do the same and differently the next time you facilitated a staffing? If you were mainly an observer, critically reflect on the actions of the team members who facilitated, especially related to communication with and meaningful participation of families as full team members.
  4. Analyze the evaluation process and procedures based on DEC Recommended Practices (2014). You will want to list each RP you observed and then write a narrative about what you observed and how this is aligned to the RP (be specific and thorough in this section).
  5. Submit under "Assessment PBA" in LiveText for Infant/Toddler or Preschool, "Primary Practicum PBA" for Primary.
